The WESC's website has been designed to be accessible to the whole community and complies with the latest Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Help with Accessibility Features

‘My Web My Way’ is a BBC resource which offers further guidance on controlling accessibility functions on a range of browsers. In addition to zoom/text sizing controls the site provides instructions for the control of font, colours, style sheets and text to speech software.

The RNIB also offer guidance on alternative screen magnification software and techniques available.

WESC’s Website Accessibility Features

Navigation

  • The main navigation menu is present on all website pages, thus providing easy access to the 'main website areas'. Sub-pages associated with these 'main website areas' are accessed through the left-hand sub menu. These will only appear once the associated 'main website area' has been activated.
  • A Site Map is available at the top left of all website pages.
  • Skip navigation and skip sub navigation links provide quick access people using screen readers to skip over the navigation to the content of the web pages.

Hold down the ALT key, press the number or letter of the access key, release both keys then press ENTER

Netscape 7

Hold down the ALT key and press the number or letter of the access key

Hold down the ALT + SHIFT key and press the number or letter of the access key, release both keys then press ENTER

Audio Transcriptions

The audio content on this website has been transcribed and also presented as text.

Changing Colours

The most popular accessible color combinations are available in the top right-hand of every website page. These include:

  • Yellow on dark grey
  • Dark grey on yellow
  • Dark grey on white
  • And the websites default colour palette

Resizable Fonts

The size of type on all WESC's website pages can be changed. Please see below for details of how to change these settings in the latest versions of the most common browsers or use our ‘-‘ and ‘+’ buttons located for your convenience in the top left-hand corner of every page.

Microsoft Internet Explorer, all versions

Menu item: View/ Text Size / Small, Medium, Large or Largest

Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 also includes the facility to zoom the whole page. This is achieved by the following key combination:

  • Ctrl and ‘+’ to enlarge
  • Ctrl and ‘-’ to reduce
  • Ctrl and ‘0’ to reset to default

Mozilla Firefox 3

Menu item: View/ Zoom / Zoom In, Zoom Out, Reset or Zoom Text Only

Note that if ‘Zoom Text Only’ has been selected then all Zoom Controls relate solely to the resizing of the text. If ‘Zoom Text Only’ has not been selected then the Zoom Controls relate to the resizing of the whole webpage.

The WESC's website uses CSS, XHTML 1.0 transitional and conforms with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, level Double A. The website has been tested on Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Opera and Safari.
